What is the Society of St. Vincent de Paul?
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization which was first established in France in 1833, established in the USA in 1845 and now spans the globe. A conference was established in our parish in 2010.  Members of the Society are called Vincentians and come from all walks of life. We strive to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to individuals in need. Pairs of Vincentians go out to the homes of those in need to meet with them and to listen, observe and pray. The Vincentian pair will discuss their findings, pray and then decide how best to help. If needed, the shared wisdom of the entire conference is sought to guide the decision.

What needs are being met by the Conference at Resurrection?
The needs in Rochester are great.  We have assisted those in need with such things as: groceries, gasoline, rent, emergency shelter, utility bills, home repairs, furniture, clothing, transportation needs and prayer.

How can you be involved?
Active Member: Home visitors go to the homes of those in need.  We are in great need of parishioners to join our conference to help with home visits. The need in Rochester is great and this ministry is an incredible and rewarding experience.
Contributing Member: These are parishioners and other benefactors who wish to support the Society on a regular basis.  The Church of the Resurrection designates the 5th Sunday of the month as a second collection to benefit the ministry of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

New members receive training for home visits via the Vincentian Ozanam Orientation and the Diocesan Virtus training.

How can you learn more?
